This token acts as your app (a bot user). Leave token rotation turned off — this authentication method has no refresh flow, so a rotating token stops working within 12 hours.

Enables actions: Complete File Upload, Create Conversation, Delete File, Delete Message, Delete Scheduled Message, Get Conversation, Get File, Get File Upload URL, Get Message Permalink, Get Unified Group, Get Unified Organization, Get Unified User, Get User, Get User By Email, Get User Presence, Get User Profile, Invite Shared Conversation, Invite Users To Conversation, Join Conversation, Leave Conversation, List Conversation Members, List Conversations, List Files, List Messages, List Scheduled Messages, List Slack Connect Invites, List Thread Replies, List Unified Groups, List Unified Organizations, List Unified Users, List User Conversations, List Users, Lookup Discoverable Contact, Open Conversation, Remove User From Conversation, Rename Conversation, Schedule Message, Send Ephemeral Message, Send Message, Set User Presence, Update Message

Check that token rotation is off

Scroll to the top of the OAuth & Permissions page. Under Advanced token security via token rotation, the Opt In button must still be shown. Don’t click it.

  • Once turned on, token rotation cannot be turned off. If your app already uses it, create a new app instead.

3

Install the app

Under OAuth Tokens, click the Install to button, which is followed by your workspace name.

  • The button stays disabled until at least one scope has been added.

4

Approve the app

5

Copy the Bot User OAuth Token

Slack returns to OAuth & Permissions. Under OAuth Tokens, click Copy next to Bot User OAuth Token and paste it into the Bot User OAuth Token field in StackOne Hub.

  • Format: xoxb-... — a token that starts with xoxe. means token rotation is on and won’t work here
  • Treat the token like a password and store it securely. Anyone who has it can call Slack as your app.
  • If you add or change scopes later, click Reinstall to followed by your workspace name, then copy the new token.
