Generate your API key and secret

ShipStation’s V1 API uses an API Key and API Secret that you generate from your account’s API Settings.

Sign in to ShipStation

Sign in to your ShipStation account.

  • Enter your Username and password, then click Sign In.

Open API Settings

Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the top navigation bar to open Settings.

  • In the left sidebar, expand Account.
  • Select API Settings.

Generate your API key and secret

On the API Settings page, you’ll see the API Keys section.

  • In the Select API Version dropdown, choose V1 API.
  • Click Generate API Key and set the Expiration for the key.
  • If prompted, complete Multi-Factor Authentication: enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your email to confirm key generation.
  • Copy the generated API Key and API Secret and store them securely.
  • Note: You should never expose your API keys.

Linking the Account from the Hub

Navigate to the Hub

Use one of the three Linking Account Methods to access the Hub.

Fill out the fields

Fill out the following fields using details from your provider:
  • API Key
  • API Secret

Connect

  • Click Connect
  • If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider’s authorization flow.
  • Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup

If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account in your Accounts page.
