The Public API is available only on Team and Business tier workspaces. Only a Workspace Owner can create a Public API token.

Generate a Public API token

The Public API token authenticates every request and is scoped to a single Segment workspace.

Sign in to Segment

Sign in to your Segment account. If your workspace is in the EU, sign in at eu1.app.segment.com.

  • Click Settings in the left navigation to open Workspace settings.
  • Open the Access Management tab.
  • Click Tokens.

Create the token

Create a new token and grant it the workspace access it needs.

  • Click + Create Token.
  • Select Public API token (not Config API token).
  • Enter a description, then assign the token either Workspace Owner or Workspace Member access.
  • Click Create.
  • Copy the token somewhere secure, then click Done — it is shown only once.

Find your region

Your region is the data residency where your Segment workspace is hosted. It determines which API host StackOne calls.

  • Check the app URL in your browser address bar when signed in to Segment.
  • Example: if your URL is https://eu1.app.segment.com/..., select European Union; otherwise select United States.
  • United States is the default — new workspaces use US infrastructure unless the EU region was selected at creation.

Linking the Account from the Hub

Navigate to the Hub

Use one of the three Linking Account Methods to access the Hub.

Fill out the fields

Fill out the following fields using details from your provider:
  • Public API Token
  • Region

Connect

  • Click Connect
  • If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider’s authorization flow.
  • Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup
If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account in your Accounts page.
