Only a company admin or company owner can create and revoke API tokens.

Generate an API token

An API token authenticates requests to Remote’s API.

1

Sign in to Remote

Sign in to your Remote account.

  • From the left navigation panel, navigate to CompanyCompany SettingsIntegrations & APIs.
  • Click the Remote API card.
2

Generate a new API token

Click the Generate API token button.

  • Enter a descriptive name for your token (e.g., “StackOne Integration”).
  • Under Endpoint collections, select either Read Only or Full Access. At least one permission level is required for the connection to work.
  • Review and agree to the Remote API Terms of Use.
  • Click Generate to create the token.
3

Copy the API token

Your new API token will appear in the tokens table.

  • Click the three-dot menu next to the token and select Copy token.
  • Store it securely for use later.

Select your environment

The environment must match your Remote account type and API token prefix.

  • Select Production if you are using a live Remote account. Production API tokens are prefixed with ra_live_.
  • Select Sandbox if you are using a Remote sandbox account for testing. Sandbox API tokens are prefixed with ra_test_.
  • The environment must match the token type — a sandbox token will not work with the Production environment, and vice versa.
