Choose a Device ID

Reddit identifies a userless installed-app caller by a Device ID instead of an account.

1

Pick a Device ID

You choose the Device ID yourself — there is nothing to copy from Reddit. Generate it once and keep it the same, because Reddit expects the same Device ID every time the token is renewed.

  • Format: 20 to 30 ASCII characters, unique to the device or logged-out user
  • Example: DO_NOT_TRACK_THIS_DEVICE
  • Reddit treats DO_NOT_TRACK_THIS_DEVICE as an explicit request not to be tracked. Use it unless you need per-device identification.

Set a User Agent

Reddit requires a descriptive User-Agent header on every API call, and throttles requests that send a generic or duplicated one.

1

Enter a User Agent

You write the User Agent value yourself — there is nothing to copy from Reddit. Use the Reddit username that owns the app so Reddit can identify the traffic.

  • Format: platform:appid:version (by /u/username)
  • Example: stackone-reddit-connector/1.0 (by /u/your_reddit_username)
