Register an Application

Create an application in the Paychex Developer Portal to obtain API credentials.

Sign in to the Developer Portal

Sign in at developer.paychex.com.

  • Navigate to My Apps and create a new application.

Request Client Access

Your application must be granted access to a Paychex client (company) before it can call the API.

  • Follow the portal’s client access request flow for the company whose data you need.

Copy your API Key and Secret

Once your app is approved, retrieve its credentials.

  • Copy the API Key (used as the Client ID) and store it securely.
  • Copy the corresponding Secret (used as the Client Secret) — treat it like a password.

Linking the Account from the Hub

Navigate to the Hub

Use one of the three Linking Account Methods to access the Hub.

Connect

  • Click Connect
  • If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider’s authorization flow.
  • Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup
If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account in your Accounts page.
