Generating an Ingest API Key

Ingest API Keys are used to send telemetry data to Honeycomb.

Access Environment Settings

Sign in to your Honeycomb account (or EU instance)

  • Click Environments in the top-left corner
  • Select Manage Environments from the dropdown
  • Find your target environment and click its name
  • Click the API Keys tab

Create Ingest API Key

Click the Ingest sub-tab, then click Create Ingest API Key button.

  • Enter a descriptive name (e.g., “StackOne Data Ingestion”)
  • Check Can create services/datasets permission to allow automatic dataset creation
  • Click Create
  • Click Ok, I’ve copied the key to confirm.

Selecting Your Honeycomb Region

Your Honeycomb Site determines which regional instance your data is stored in.

Identify Your Region

Check your Honeycomb dashboard URL in your browser address bar.

  • If URL is ui.honeycomb.io, select US (api.honeycomb.io)
  • If URL is ui.eu1.honeycomb.io, select EU (api.eu1.honeycomb.io)
  • Caution: US and EU regions cannot be mixed - ensure you select the correct instance

Linking the Account from the Hub

Navigate to the Hub

Use one of the three Linking Account Methods to access the Hub.

Fill out the fields

Fill out the following fields using details from your provider:
  • Honeycomb Site
  • Ingest API Key

Connect

  • Click Connect
  • If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider’s authorization flow.
  • Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup

If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account in your Accounts page.
