Only account admins can generate or replace the Freshchat API key. Freshchat keeps one key per account, so generating a new key replaces the old one.

Get your API key and API URL

Generate the API key, then note the host your Freshchat account uses.

Open the API settings

In Freshchat, go to Admin > Configure > API Tokens. On Freshsales Suite, go to Settings > Admin Settings > Website Tracking and APIs > API Settings and use the API details for chat section.

Copy the API key

Click Generate Token if no key exists yet, then copy Your API Key.

Enter your Freshchat host

For a standalone Freshchat account, enter <account-name>.freshchat.com in Domain, for example acme.freshchat.com. On Freshsales Suite, copy the host shown in Your chat URL, without https://, for example acme-123456.myfreshworks.com.

Linking the Account from the Hub

Navigate to the Hub

Use one of the three Linking Account Methods to access the Hub.

Fill out the fields

Fill out the following fields using details from your provider:
  • Domain
  • API Key

Connect

  • Click Connect
  • If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider’s authorization flow.
  • Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup

If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account in your Accounts page.
