The Bot Token guide covers generating the bot token, enabling the privileged gateway intents needed to read members and message content, and installing the bot on a server.

bug-fix description-fixTwenty-one actions that Discord answers with 204 No Content now return an explicit success confirmation instead of an empty value, so callers can tell a completed delete, role change, reaction or thread join from a silent no-op. Start Thread Without Message now accepts the message and applied tags needed to create posts in forum and media channels. Guild and channel ID parameters state that they take a numeric snowflake and name the action that returns it.

breaking-changeEvery action now declares which authentication types it supports. Most of the Discord API is reachable only with a bot token, so server, channel and message actions are Bot Token only, and OAuth 2.0 connections no longer surface actions that would fail with a 401.
