Generating an API token
Dext authenticates Data Health & Insights API requests with an API token. Tokens are personal: a token returns only the clients its creator can access, so create it from a Practice Admin account to cover every client.

Sign in to Dext
Sign in to your Dext practice account.
- Select Practice settings in the bottom-left navigation.

Open the API tokens page
In Practice settings, select Data Health in the left navigation, then select API tokens.

Create and copy a token
Enter a descriptive name in the Token Name field (for example, StackOne) and select Create. Copy the token value and paste it into the API Token field in StackOne Hub.
- The token value is shown once and cannot be retrieved later, so copy it before you close the modal.
- Deleting the token in API tokens immediately rejects it for all API requests.
Linking the Account from the Hub

Navigate to the Hub
Use one of the three Linking Account Methods to access the Hub.

Fill out the fields
Fill out the following fields using details from your provider:
- API Token

Connect
- Click Connect
- If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider’s authorization flow.
- Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup
If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account on your Accounts page.
