You need project-level admin access in Amplitude to generate API credentials.

Find your API credentials

Obtain your project’s API Key and Secret Key from Amplitude.

Navigate to Project Settings

Sign in to your Amplitude account.

  • Click settings icon in the top right corner.
  • In the dropdown, click Organization Settings.
  • In the left sidebar, click Workspace > Projects.
  • Click on your project to open the project settings.

Copy your Secret Key

Under the General tab in the Project Details section, click Show next to Secret Key.

  • Copy the Secret Key and store it securely for use later.

Generate an API key

In the same Project Details section, click Manage next to API Key.

  • Click Generate API Key.
  • Enter a name for the API Key.
  • Copy the Key Value and store it securely for use later.

Select your server region

Check your browser address bar when signed in to Amplitude to determine your region:

  • Standard Server: app.amplitude.com (most common)
  • EU Residency Server: app.eu.amplitude.com (for EU data residency)

Taxonomy API access

Required for: Create Event Category, Create Event Property, Create Event Type, Create Group Property, Create User Property, Delete Event Category, Delete Event Property, Delete Event Type, Delete User Property, Restore Event Property, Restore Event Type, Restore User Property, Update Event Category, Update Event Property, Update Event Type, Update Group Property, Update User Property

Modifying taxonomy resources (event types, user properties, etc.) requires an Amplitude Enterprise plan. Read-only taxonomy endpoints are available on all plans.

User Profile API access

Required for: Get User Profile

The User Profile API is only available on the Standard Server region (not EU Residency Server) and requires an eligible plan. Contact your Amplitude account manager to verify access.

Linking the Account from the Hub

Navigate to the Hub

Use one of the three Linking Account Methods to access the Hub.

Fill out the fields

Fill out the following fields using details from your provider:
  • API Key
  • Secret Key
  • Server Region

Connect

  • Click Connect
  • If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider’s authorization flow.
  • Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup

If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account in your Accounts page.
