Prerequisites

The connector should already be set up, with a Connector Profile and a Linked Account. See Getting Started on the Postmark connector page.

How webhooks are set up

No configuration is required in Postmark. When you connect your account, StackOne creates the webhook on your server and removes it when you disconnect.

1

One webhook is created

A single webhook is registered on the server’s outbound (Transactional) message stream, subscribed to the events you selected in StackOne.

2

Enable tracking for open and click events

Open and Click are delivered only for messages sent with tracking enabled. Turn it on per message using the TrackOpens and TrackLinks parameters, or set a default for the whole server under Servers > [Your Server] > Settings > Tracking.

  • Messages sent without TrackOpens never produce an Open event.
  • Messages sent without TrackLinks never produce a Click event, because Postmark detects clicks by rewriting the links in the message.
  • Only a recipient’s first open of a message is delivered. Subsequent opens of the same message are not.
3

Do not edit or delete it in Postmark

The webhook appears under Servers > [Your Server] > Webhooks. Changing or removing it there stops all event delivery until the account is reconnected.

4

Connect each server separately

To receive events from more than one Postmark server, connect each one as a separate StackOne account, using its own Server API Token.

Available webhook events

The events below can be enabled for this connection. Only events selected in StackOne are delivered.

1

Delivery outcome events

Events describing what happened to a message after it was sent.

  • Delivery (Delivery) — Fired when the recipient’s mail server accepts the message
  • Bounce (Bounce) — Fired when a message cannot be delivered, covering hard bounces, soft bounces and transient failures
  • Spam Complaint (SpamComplaint) — Fired when a recipient marks a message as spam
2

Engagement events

Events describing how a recipient interacted with a message. Both are delivered only for messages sent with open or link tracking enabled.

  • Open (Open) — Fired the first time a recipient opens a tracked message
  • Click (Click) — Fired when a recipient clicks a tracked link in a message
3

Suppression events

Events describing changes to whether an address can be sent to.

  • Subscription Change (SubscriptionChange) — Fired when an address is suppressed or reactivated, whether by a hard bounce, a spam complaint or a manual suppression you create
4

Inbound email

Inbound Email (Inbound) is available on this connector but is not covered by the automatic setup. Postmark configures inbound processing through the server’s inbound webhook URL rather than the Webhooks API, so StackOne cannot create it for you.

  • To receive inbound events, set the Native Webhook URL manually under Servers > [Your Server] > Settings > Inbound.

Verify

Your Connector should now be able to receive and process events. Try triggering an event and you should see an Event appear in the Connector logs.
