# Connect Shortcut with API Key – StackOne Hub

> Link a Shortcut account in the StackOne Hub using API Key. End-user guide to authorize the integration and start using Shortcut actions.

<Warning>API tokens grant full access to your Shortcut workspace data. Keep them secure and never share them publicly. Tokens are generated as read-only by default — uncheck the read-only option if StackOne needs to create, update, or delete data.</Warning>

  <h2>Generate an API token</h2>

  <p>Create a new API token from your Shortcut account settings. Admin access is not required.</p>

        <p>Sign in to your <a href="https://app.shortcut.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shortcut account</a>.</p>

        <ul>
          <li>At the bottom of the left sidebar, click <strong>Settings</strong>.</li>
          <li>Under <strong>My Account</strong>, click <strong>API Tokens</strong>.</li>
        </ul>

        <p>Enter a descriptive name in the <strong>Token Name</strong> field (e.g., "StackOne Integration"), set the access level, then click <strong>Generate Token</strong>.</p>

        <ul>
          <li>The <strong>Read-only (cannot create, update, or delete data)</strong> checkbox is checked by default — uncheck it if you need StackOne to perform write actions.</li>
          <li>Copy the token immediately and store it securely — it is only shown once.</li>

  <h2>Linking the Account from the Hub</h2>

    <Step title="Navigate to the Hub">
      Use one of the three <a href="/guides/accounts-section#linking-accounts">Linking Account Methods</a> to access the Hub.

    <Step title="Fill out the fields">
      Fill out the following fields using details from your provider:

        <li><strong>API Token</strong></li>
      </ul>

        <li>Click <strong>Connect</strong></li>
        <li>If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider's authorization flow.</li>
        <li>Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup</li>

  <p>If the account linking is successful, you will see the newly linked account in your <a href="/guides/accounts-section">Accounts</a> page.</p>
