## Request partner OAuth credentials

StackOne connects to Remote through partner OAuth credentials that Remote creates for you. Remote also registers the redirect URI that the sign-in returns to, and it must match the **Callback URL** from your StackOne Connector Profile character for character.

**1. Contact Remote's partnerships team**

Ask Remote's partnerships team for partner API access with the Authorization Code flow.

<ul>
  <li>Request credentials for the environment you plan to connect (**Sandbox** or **Production**). Sandbox and production credentials are separate.</li>
  <li>Give Remote the **Callback URL** from your StackOne Connector Profile as the redirect URI to register.</li>
</ul>

**2. Copy the client credentials**

Remote sends you a `CLIENT_ID` and a `CLIENT_SECRET`.

<ul>
  <li>Paste the `CLIENT_ID` into the **Client ID** field in the StackOne Connector Profile.</li>
  <li>Paste the `CLIENT_SECRET` into the **Client Secret** field in the StackOne Connector Profile.</li>
  <li>Store the secret securely and never expose it in client-side code.</li>
</ul>

## Choose the OAuth scopes

Remote scopes are requested during sign-in, not configured on the credentials. A write scope also grants its read scope.

**1. Enter the scopes to request**

## Approve access in Remote

When an account is connected, the user is sent to Remote to sign in and approve the requested access.

<ul>
  <li>The approving user must be an **Owner** or **Admin** of the Remote company.</li>
  <li>Access is limited to the approved scopes and to that one company.</li>
</ul>

## Create the StackOne Connector Profile

**1. Create a Connector Profile**

Enable the connector and create a Connector Profile in your project. See [Setup Connector Profile](https://docs.stackone.com/gateway/quickstart.md#setup-connector-profile).

**2. Link an Account**

Once the Connector Profile is created, continue to [link an account](https://docs.stackone.com/connectors/remote/guides/link-account/oauth-2-0.md).
