# Connect Reddit with OAuth 2.0 (Password Grant) – StackOne Hub

> Link a Reddit account in the StackOne Hub using OAuth 2.0 (Password Grant). End-user guide to authorize the integration and start using Reddit actions.

> A Reddit script app is personal - it only works for accounts listed as a developer of that app. Create your own app rather than reusing someone else's.

## Create a script app

Register a script-type app in Reddit's app preferences. The app belongs to the same Reddit account the integration will act as.

**1. Open the apps page**

Sign in to [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com), click your profile icon, then click **Settings**.

<ul>
  <li>On the **Account** tab, under **Apps**, click **OAuth app settings**.</li>
  <li>Scroll to the bottom of the page.</li>
  <li>Click **are you a developer? create an app...** to open the form.</li>
</ul>

**2. Fill out app details**

Provide the app metadata.

<ul>
  <li>**app name**: `StackOne Script`</li>
  <li>Select the **script** radio button.</li>
  <li>**redirect uri**: `http://localhost`</li>
  <li>Click **create app**.</li>
</ul>

**3. Copy the app credentials**

After creation the new app card shows the credentials you need. A script app's token carries full scope, so there is no permission screen to configure.

<ul>
  <li>Copy the string under the app name (just below "personal use script") across as the **Client ID**.</li>
  <li>Click **edit** next to the app, then copy the **secret** across as the **Client Secret**.</li>
</ul>

## Enter the Reddit account

The integration signs in as one Reddit account, so these are that account's own sign-in details. It must be the account that created the app, or one added to it as a developer.

**1. Enter the account credentials**

Reddit rejects any account that is not listed as a developer of the app. The creator is added automatically.

<ul>
  <li>**Reddit Username**: the username of that account, without the `u/` prefix</li>
  <li>**Reddit Password**: that account's password</li>
  <li>If the account has two-factor authentication enabled, append the current code to the password, as in `mypassword:123456`.</li>
</ul>

## Set a User Agent

Reddit requires a descriptive User-Agent header on every API call, and throttles requests that send a generic or duplicated one.

**1. Enter a User Agent**

You write the **User Agent** value yourself — there is nothing to copy from Reddit. Use the same Reddit username you entered above.

<ul>
  <li>Format: `platform:appid:version (by /u/username)`</li>
  <li>Example: `stackone-reddit-connector/1.0 (by /u/your_reddit_username)`</li>
</ul>

## Link the Account

**1. Connect**

<ul>
  <li>Click **Connect**.</li>
  <li>If applicable, the provider will redirect you to a sign-in or authorization page. Complete the provider's authorization flow.</li>
  <li>Once authorization is successful, you will see a confirmation popup.</li>
</ul>

**2. Use Actions**

Connect an AI platform to the linked account's actions. See [AI Platforms](https://docs.stackone.com/connect/ai-platforms/overview.md).

Other ways to call actions are listed in [Protocols & SDKs](https://docs.stackone.com/connect/protocols-and-sdks.md).
